On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

One DirectionOne Direction still sees themselves as newcomers.

The global chart-toppers - who earned $160 million in the two years since they competed on The X Factor - have reportedly declined an offer by boss Simon Cowell to mentor contestants on the show because they are too inexperienced.

"We don't feel like we are in a position to be giving strong advice," Louis Tomlinson told The Sun.

The group's mentor Simon is said to have been hoping the boy band would guest star in an episode of the UK reality TV series and conduct a master class with the current group of wannabe stars to help boost the show's ratings.

Miley Cyrus and Ashton Kutcher in 'Two and a Half Men'Miley Cyrus was "on fire" when she filmed Two and a Half Men.

The singer-and-actress recently made a cameo appearance in the sitcom and though the show's star Jon Cryer wasn't initially confident she would be a success, he was thrilled when she stepped in front of the camera and nailed her part:

"She plays a motor-mouth character, so they gave her page-long monologues. She was lovely, and we had a great time. All week, she was on book [looking at the script] which is understandable. But even when we got within two hours of the show, she was still on book. We were thinking, 'Oh no, Miley better bring it!' And then we did it in front of the audience, and Miley brought it! Miley was just on fire and fantastic."

Miley recently had her hair cut into a daring short crop and Jon thinks her new look is fantastic. "I know her haircut is very controversial, but I lay on the side of 'I love it.' I think she looks fantastic," he said.

The Modern Family cast at the Emmys

Modern Family swept the board at the Emmy Awards last night winning four prizes. The sitcom took home the top Comedy Series prize as well as gongs for Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet, while the ABC show's helmer Steven Levitan won the Director award.

Psychological thriller Homeland upstaged some of the more established programs by winning four drama series honors including the main prize for the category and Series Actor and Actress in a Drama prizes for Damian Lewis and Claire Danes, respectively. Damian introduced himself to the audience as "one of those pesky Brits" and later admitted he thought Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who has won the accolade three times, would be victorious in the category again this year.

UsherUsher can't wait to "nourish talent" on The Voice.

The "OMG" hitmaker and Shakira will join the panel of the singing competition next season as replacements for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green and Usher - who famously mentored Justin Bieber - is excited about discovering new stars and guiding their careers.

"This is an opportunity for me to allow [audiences] into the world and into that process of [artist development]... it kind of gives credence to what artist development is truly all about and [The Voice]. I think, is really sustaining the artists of the future. The point is, being a part of The Voice gives me that opportunity to not only spot talent but nourish it and also allow the world to be a part of that process."

Usher is also excited that the competition isn't concerned with how its contestants look but instead judges them on their talent. "The cool part about The Voice is that it starts with the voice and obviously it's going to end with the voice. If you make an incredible record, it lasts forever," he added.

Britney SpearsBritney Spears has been compared to Marilyn Monroe.

The reaction fans give when they see the pop singer has stunned her fellow X Factor judge L.A. Reid, who claims his co-star has the same mystique as the late icon.

"People go crazy for Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z. I've seen them go crazy for Rihanna. But this? Britney has the same magic that made Marilyn Monroe famous, that intangible ability to be completely loved and for people to be completely consumed by her everything," Reid said.

However, Britney insists the idea of being an icon "freaks" her out: "I try not to think about that. It's just - that's an overwhelming thing to think about. And I still feel new and fresh at the whole game. And when people say they know me, it still freaks me out. Still. To this day."

X Factor boss Simon Cowell, who recruited Britney to the show, revealed he was shocked by how shy she is in person. "She's one of the most humble people. I was raving about a song she'd written and she got really uncomfortable and it's not an act. It's partly down to her shyness. I didn't realize it until I started to work with her. We all remember her [performance at the MTV awards] with that snake around her neck and think, 'She can't be shy.' But she is."

Carly Rae JepsenCarly Rae Jepsen wants to star on Glee.

The 26-year-old popstar - whose song "Call Me Maybe" was recently covered on the hit musical TV show - thinks it would make sense for her to make a guest appearance on the series because of her background in musical theater.

"At this point, I wouldn't say no to anything. I'm leaving my options open and seeing what happens," she said.

She admitted it would be "pretty cool" to follow in the footsteps of past Glee guest stars including Lindsay Lohan, Ricky Martin, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow.

"Call Me Maybe" was covered by the cast of Glee during the first episode of its new series last week.

Dina Lohan on Dr. Phil's showDina Lohan wants to do another interview with Dr. Phil McGraw. The mother of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan wants a second chance to sit down with the chat show host following her disastrous appearance on his show earlier this week, according to TMZ.

Dina - who has been labeled "the worst mother in America" - is said to be eager to prove she is not a complete train wreck. She was slammed by Dr. Phil as a "phony and inauthentic" for appearing intoxicated and making rude gestures during the recent interview.

Sources close to Dina say she was extremely emotional and does not believe the interview was a fair representation of her character. The mother-of-four is reported to have reached out to Dr Phil for a do-over. It is not yet known whether the no-nonsense talk show host - who admitted to Dina that he was unimpressed with her attitude - is interested in speaking to her on camera again.

Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine love to prank their fellow The Voice coaches. The "Your Body" singer recently announced she will take a break from the show next season in order to focus on her new album and Christina admitted leaving will be "bittersweet" because she has so much fun with her fellow mentors.

"It's bittersweet. I so enjoy being a coach to my team on The Voice [and] and at this point in season three, all of us coaches have truly bonded. When me and Adam are on breaks backstage, you know, we're writing profanity with my red lipstick all over Blake [Shelton]'s trailer while he's napping inside. It's like we have definitely become like brother and sister. We goof around and play around. I'm going to miss it," she told E! News.

Matthew BroderickMatthew Broderick will guest star on Modern Family.

The Tony Award-winning actor will join the comedy show as a "neurotic new friend" of regular character Phil Dunphy (played by Ty Burrell), ABC has confirmed. No other details of his character have been released.

Matthew's wife Sarah Jessica Parker will also appear on the small screen when she stars in the latest series of Glee. The former Sex and the City actress will be a "frazzled and eccentric" editor of an acclaimed fashion magazine's website when she makes her guest appearance in the musical drama and show bosses think she is "hilarious."

"Sarah Jessica Parker is gonna be running Vogue.com. That's sort of where we encounter this character, who's sort of frazzled, eccentric, hilarious. It's gonna be good," said the show's co-creator and executive producer Ian Brennan.

Neil Patrick Harris in 'How I Met Your Mother'Neil Patrick Harris wants How I Met Your Mother to end after the current season.

The comedy returns this month for its eighth season and Neil - who plays Barney Stinson - says he and the rest of the cast are ready for the show to reach its conclusion.

"Our contracts end at [Season] eight, so it's one of those, you know, if they wanna do nine, they're welcome to, but we have a lot of other things [going on]. Cobie has got The Avengers that just made a billion dollars, Jason makes a ton of movies, I'm anxious to move East and Josh is directing and acting in movies as well. So, we all are anxious to move forward," said Neil, who stars alongside Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Alyson Hannigan.

Neil also admits the only reason any of the cast will sign up for another series is if it will be incredibly lucrative for them to do so: "I think the only way I think a season nine or any longer would happen would be [if it were] financially right - that's the reality of it. We love the show, we love doing it - eight years is a long time and we're as happy a family as we've ever been."
